Earwax Management
At Avalon Hearing, we know that earwax buildup can affect your hearing and overall ear health. Our earwax management process is designed to be thorough, safe, and effective. Here’s what you can expect during an earwax removal visit with us:
1. Free Ear Check
Your earwax removal visit begins with a free ear check. We use a video otoscope to provide a crisp, clear view of your eardrum and ear canals. This detailed inspection allows us to assess the extent of earwax buildup and determine the most appropriate removal method.
2. Earwax Removal Techniques
Based on our evaluation, we select the best method for removing the earwax:
Curette Removal:
The most common technique involves using a specialized tool called a curette. We have various types of curettes designed for different situations, including lighter, spoon-shaped, loop-shaped, and tweezer-like options. These tools allow us to gently and painlessly grasp and remove the earwax.
Ear Flush Kit:
For more stubborn earwax buildup, we use an ear flush kit. This kit sprays warm water into the ear canal to loosen and remove the wax. For enhanced effectiveness, we may combine this with a Debrox solution, which helps break down even the most persistent wax buildups.
3. Preventative Care and Advice
After the earwax removal, we provide recommendations to help you maintain ear health and prevent future buildup. This includes advice on proper ear care practices and the avoidance of objects like cotton swabs, which can push wax deeper into the ear canal.
4. Follow-Up Care
If needed, we will schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure your ears remain clean and healthy. Should you experience any issues or discomfort after the procedure, we are here to address them promptly.
At Avalon Hearing, we are committed to ensuring your ear health and hearing clarity through our safe and effective earwax management solutions. If you have concerns about earwax buildup or any ear health issues, contact us to schedule a comprehensive test and expert care.
